In my case the role was reversed, I took the mental or cognitive load and there was a point of breakdown and I could not take it any more. Stepped out of the relationship. Life hasn't been better.

The COVID point actualy hit me hard because I noticed the same thing in my own household - suddenly we were all just dealing with the basics, no invisible planning required. But what really gets me is how training someone mid-life to take on cognitive load is like teaching them to see something thats been invisible their whole lives.

Yeah, you're right - it's not easy. We need more stories out in the open so it stops being invisible.
